A renewed partnership between Spectra by Comcast Spectacor and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Atlantic and Cape May Counties to host the 4th annual “Deck the Hall- Festival of Trees” at Boardwalk Hall has generated $22,000 to benefit locally neglected and abused children this Holiday Season.
In conjunction and with the support of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA), Coca-Cola, and the Press of Atlantic City, Spectra and CASA solicited the local community to sponsor a custom decorated holiday tree which will be on display to the public in the Boardwalk Hall lobby through the duration of the holiday season. In addition, the public is invited to daily holiday organ recitals at noon through the end of the month.
Members of these organizations spent the last week “decking” Boardwalk Hall with their trees which were unveiled at a private kick-off reception with individuals and agencies that help local foster children and families. Proceeds from the event will be used to help recruit and train more volunteers to serve and advocate for children living in the foster system of Atlantic and Cape May counties.
The sponsors of the month long event include: Coca-Cola, the Press of Atlantic City, Tropicana Hotel & Casino, Borgata Hotel & Casino, Carpenters Local 255, IBEW Local 351, Environmental Design Inc., Calvi Electric Company, Herman Goldner Company, Cadillac, Thomas Company, Inc., Falasca Mechanical, ACUA- Atlantic County Utilities Authority, PSAV, Atlantic City Electric, Abatis Security, Atlantic City Professional Fire Fighters Local 198, Atlantic City PBA Local 24, Ducktown Tavern & Liquors, Harrison Beverage, Historic Organ Restoration Committee, Local 68 Operating Engineers, SOSH Architects, Vista Convention Services, Local 322 Plumbers & Pipefitters, IUPAT District Council 711, Glenn Insurance Inc., Atlantic City Electric, Ticketmaster, Dunkin Donuts, Concord Engineering, and Starbucks.
“We are most appreciative of the support of this year’s sponsors and the dedication of the entire Spectra team who organized this wonderful event on our behalf,” said CASA’s Angie Waters, Executive Director. “The children that our volunteers advocate for often feel unseen and unheard, but this event shines a spotlight on the challenges that foster youth face and the many ways that everyone in our community can help provide a better future for each of them. Giving your time to volunteer or providing financial support to help an abused or neglected child will truly better their life, and in the process, enhance your own as well.”
“It’s always uplifting to see our community come together at this time of year to give to worthy causes like CASA,” said CRDA Executive Director Chris Howard. “The Deck the Hall display and reception that Spectra produces captures the true spirit of the holiday season.”
“Whether the spirit of the holidays, or just a cause that touches everyone's heart, we are humbled by the support of everyone who contributed their time and money to this worthy cause,” said Spectra’s Jim Wynkoop, General Manager of Boardwalk Hall. We have six new trees this year and expect a record contribution from this annual event returning to the CASA organization. We are grateful to Coca Cola for stepping into the title sponsor role this year and to the CRDA for their continued support of our community efforts. Spectra is dedicated to giving back to our communities and we are proud to team up to help support the critical services CASA provides to some of children in our region.”
To date, the annual ‘Deck the Hall- Festival of Trees’ event has generated $48,000 for local community organizations.
